Kate Adie entertains business supporters of Disability Challengers at Gala Supper held at Fetcham Park.
Surrey, 26th September 2011. Independent children’s charity, Disability Challengers held an exclusive event last Thursday to celebrate the success of their Challengers Champions Business Club at Grade II Listed Mansion, Fetcham Park in Leatherhead.
Former BBC Chief News Correspondent Kate Adie regaled guests with fascinating stories from her career. She spoke about a number of interesting topics, from her start in local radio to finding herself as the only woman in the midst of 43,000 troops, to the changing face of the media.
The Gala Supper brought together corporate supporters of Disability Challengers, many of whom are members of the Challengers Champions Business Club, a new initiative set-up by the charity last November. The 20-strong Business Club allows business supporters of Challengers to network and attend exclusive events organised by the charity as well as capitalise on promotional opportunities in return for a membership fee of £1,000 a year.
The support of members of the Business Club helps Disability Challengers continue providing essential play and leisure opportunities for over 1,200 local disabled children and young people across Surrey. These schemes also provide a break for parents and families from what can be a constant cycle of care.
Mady Hatton from the charity says: “We were thrilled with how the evening went. Being fortunate enough to have the use of Fetcham Park made for a fabulous setting for the evening, Kate was a fascinating speaker as well as very entertaining, and we are very grateful for everyone who helped make it such an enjoyable event. It was a great way to thank everyone who had has helped to make the Business Club such a success and supported Challengers through this.”
